MOONSCOOP SCORES FURTHER SALE OF HERO: 108

New deal signed with Televisa for Mexico

Paris, 16 July 2010. Moonscoop, one of the leading worldwide distribution, brand management and entertainment companies, has signed a brand new deal for animated comedy/action adventure series Hero:108. Mexico’s Televisa is the latest broadcaster to acquire the show, following sales to the UK’s GMTV, MBC in the Middle East, and Cartoon Network channels worldwide which co-produced the series.

Hero:108 is currently airing on Cartoon Network in the US and UK, and other international territories including Latin America, Germany, Italy, CEE, Iberia, Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Marie Conge, Senior Vice President International Distribution and CPG at Moonscoop said: “Hero:108 is one of the key Moonscoop brands and is really building momentum following its television launch. We’re focused on signing further international deals for the show and Televisa is the ideal platform for targeting the Mexican audience. We’re very pleased to conclude this deal in the region.”

Hero:108 has already become something of a phenomenon online in the past few months in the US, with a steady stream of online content being introduced.  Producers of the series have also been promoting the program to more than one million fans at over 50 anime conventions this past year.  As a result, there are already strong interest among consumers and deals in the pipe from licensees in the main categories such as apparel, back to school and bedlinen. This follows the master toy deal with Playmates who will launch the toy range this year.

The 52x11’ series will also benefit from a groundbreaking promotional platform, including a Massively Multi-Player Online Game (MMOG) developed by RedGate Games, a subsidiary of Gamania Digital Entertainment, one of the largest publishers of online multi-player games in Asia. The MMOG had a very successful closed beta launch in May, and the Open Beta launches this month.

Both groundbreaking and visually stunning, Hero:108 is a one-of-a-kind collaboration of artists from Asia, Europe and Hollywood, led by Gamania, Moonscoop and Cartoon Network International, who are spearheading the development and direction of the innovative new program. Also involved in the co-production is Telegael Teo of Ireland.

Hero:108 follows the outrageous adventures of a group of brave young defenders determined to end a conflict between animals and humans in The Hidden Kingdom.  The group known as First Squad includes Lin Chung, Mighty Ray, Mystique Sonia, Mr. No Hands and Jumpy GhostFace.  The series features striking Asian-influenced character designs created by show creator Phoenix Tarng, who is also part of Gamania’s in-house creative development team.
